Echo Base Reviews - CW56 Kamino ARF Trooper

I can't help but feel that I've done an ARF before...maybe one this week, even? Is the Kamino ARF Trooper worth a place in your shelves?

CW56 Kamino ARF Trooper
Accessories:
two blasters, rifle rack, rocketboard
Articulation: ball joint head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, hips, ankles, waist

I could go on, again, about how great it is that this figure has all of the articulation that you could want, and ball-jointed. But don't you know that? You do. Let's get to the real juice of the figure:

The paint job. It isn't quite accurate to the show. All of the ARFs on Kamino had this helmet paint job, but the maroon stripes on the arms were absent. Does that make this a bad figure? No. Would the figure survive without them? Yeah, and no. A lot of people seemed to complain that Matchstick only had a decorative helmet (some people I know, anyway) and a little more would have been cool. I'm in the same boat. The figure still looks good and the arm deco gives him more flair and more layers of color. I like it. The helmet has a pretty cool wolf design on it, which makes it badarse. There are more little details on the helmet that just remind us that when Hasbro takes its time, we can get some stellar paint jobs on our toys.

The accessories are great: it comes with not only one fat rifle, but two! If you need to quickly outfit your troopers, they come with an extra and I remember three in the show. They come with the 1999 Commtech Stormtrooper figure. It's really nice and adds some great value to the set, and the rifles actually fit in really well once you see how it works. More little touches like these in the clone ranks would be much appreciated, and they definitely are, here. The board is a repaint of the accessory that came with Quinlan...and just like with Quinlan's, the pegholes are too small to accommodate the clone's wide holes. It's sad and I wish they would fit, but you could just as easily set him on the board but not on the pegs. It doesn't take away from the figure at all.

Bottom line: go ahead and buy all three. You won't be disappointed.
